Ode to Prince

You were what they called legend.
A man with a guitar and piano painted in purple
A person that lived life by daring to be different.
For you always knew that we gathered to party.
Every second of every hour that passes, we check social media
Begging someone to say that your death was not truth.
All we’re met with is confirmation that you’ve left.
So we all question and wonder how this could’ve happened.

Was it your turn up on stage?
Did Michael Jackson, Whitney, and David Bowie need you?
Did God say he needed you to bring happiness and joy to those in his kingdom?
We all know that you have been taken to paradise where there are endless parties.
Where you can perform with the greats.
You are finally home with your fellow icons.
Your Showtime was at ten and you took the stage.
As the angels turned the page. 

It’s painful for us to think of life without you
But death is not the end but the beginning, we’ll see you again soon.
For now we’ll share our love for you and hope that you can hear our voices.
As the purple rain begins falling.
Bathing the world in it’s tears of your departure.
It’s not goodbye but rather five words.
